The Devouring
Simon Holt
Little Brown Co.
When Reggie reads about the Vours in a mysterious old journal, she assumes they are just the musings of an anonymous lunatic. But when her little brother, Henry, begins to act strangely, it's clear that these creatures exist beyond a madwoman's imagination, and Reggie finds out what happens when fears come to life.
To save the people she loves, Reggie must learn to survive in a world of nightmares. Can she devour her own fears before they devour her?

My Review: This was a great book. I like horror but never expected to be scared in a YA book. This did a great job of that. Also a compelling read I needed to find out what happened next. This book did everything a good horror book should do :
1. Scare the crap out of you
2. Keep you up at night
3. You think about the story when not reading
4. Compels you to pick up the book every chance you get.
Those are the four things that a horror novel should do. I am glad to say this one hit all four on the head. I have already bought the next two in this trilogy and I will be reading them soon.
