TITLE: The Girl Behind the Glass
AUTHOR: Jane Kelly
PUBLISHER: Yearling
PUB DATE: Aug 7, 2012

SUMMARY: Eleven-year-old twins Hannah and Anna agree about everything—especially that they don't want to move to the creepy old house on Hemlock Road. But as soon as they move into the house, the twins start disagreeing for the first time in their lives. In fact, it's almost as though something or someone is trying to drive them apart. While Anna settles in, Hannah can't ignore the strange things that keep happening on Hemlock Road. Why does she sense things that no one else in the family does? Like when the hemlock branch outside waves shush, shush. Or at night, if she listens hard enough, it's almost as though someone is trying to talk to her. Someone no one else can hear. Someone angry enough to want revenge. Hannah, are you listening? Is the house haunted? Is Hannah crazy? Or does something in the house want her as a best friend—forever?

Why This Book:  I though this would be a good book for my daughter. Introduce her to a scary story. I know she likes mysteries, but I want her to see there is so much more to read.

This month I read with my daughter so we picked out some Children Books.

Reading

Surviving The Applewhites
Stephanie S. Tolan

Almost done this book. I was not sure if I would like this book, but I am loving it and in the review I will explain why I like it so much.
Then we read

Matilda
Roald Dahl

We watched the movie . We want to see if the book is better than the movie.

Let's walk to the mailbox and see what has come. This month is my daughters reads so I bought her a few books to add to her library.

 TITLE: Monster High
AUTHOR: Lisi Harrison

SUMMARY
They prefer to call themselves RAD (Regular Attribute Dodgers), but some call them monsters. So far, the "monster" community has kept a low profile in Salem, but this year two new girls enroll at Master High School, and the town will never be the same.
Created just fifteen days ago, Frankie Stein is psyched to trade her father's formaldehyde-smelling basement lab for parties and cheerleading. But with a student body totally freaked out by rumors of monsters who might be stalking the halls, Frankie finds that life in the "normi" world can be rough for a chic freak like her.
She thinks she finds a friend in fellow new student Melody Carver--but can a normi be trusted with her big secret?

We got this because my daughter really wanted to read this series and I let her pick a few books.

" But although Duck had never been the most attentive student, and had very little information of a scientific nature in his brain, he was an avid fan of The Simpsons. He'd seen this glow, in cartoon form."
From "Hunger" By Michael Grant  Pg. 67

" Christmas had not been a great time for anyone. Christmas without parents. Without older siblings. Or grandparents. Without all the weird relatives you saw only at holiday time."

From "Hunger" By Michael Grant  Pg. 168

Well, it is Wednesday and here is a book I am going to be looking for when it is released

TITLE: Cleopatra Confesses
AUTHOR: Carolyn Meyer
PUBLISHER: Simon & Schuster
PUB DATE: June 26th

SUMMARY: It is the first century B.C. Cleopatra, the third of the pharaoh's six children, is the one that her father has chosen to be the next queen of Egypt. But when King Ptolemy is forced into exile, Cleopatra is left alone to fend for herself in a palace rife with intrigue and murder. Smart, courageous, ambitious and sensuously beautiful, she possesses the charm to cause two of history's most famous leaders to fall in love with her. But as her cruel sisters plot to steal the throne, Cleopatra realizes there is only one person on whom she can rely--herself.

WHY THIS BOOK: I saw this book and I loved the description. It also falls within my daughters reading range. I want he to read about a strong female lead, also it will be the longest book my daughter has read so I want to see if she feels confident enough to get through it.
