Okay, I need some help. If you follow my blog you know I read Mysteries,dystopia, and vampires. I am looking for some contemporary YA books for my daughter. So I am asking you for your suggestion ? I will get the top 3 pick and review them. Please post below. Thanks
Genuinely, there's a lot of books that I'd recommend but there's a lot of factors to be played into this. How old is she? (It'd suck if I recommended a more mature read for a tween.) What other books did she vastly enjoy?

Grace love your blog. She is 14 but I also have a 16 year old son and it would be nice to know he did not think the world is made up of vampires and zombies. So any with a male main character is good too.

1. The Fault in Our Stars from the ever-so-awesome John Green - It's beautifully written, and made me bawl my eyes out.
2. Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha van Leer - A bit of contemp, a bit of fairytale from a mother-daughter duo.
3. My Life in Black and White by Natasha Friend - An honest, not-bubbly read. Fairly clean, but not without a bit of things that a teenager might encounter in their life.
4. The Catastrophic History of You and Me - Not a 10/10 story, but still very good, with an adorable lead character.
5. Heist Society by Ally Carter - The story of a girl from a family of thieves and scammers. She's the anomaly of the group; she steals like a pro, but she tries using it for good. Kind of.
If you don't mind slightly mature reads for your daughter, 1 and 3 would be okay, but it does mention a little bit of sex in it. Not detailed, but still.
For your son (not all are contemp, but something that I'd recommend to a teenage boy)
1. An Abundance of Katherines by John Green - Another John Green, about a prodigal boy who's trying to find a math formula on why he always dates girls named Katherine and why they always dump him.
2. The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler - Told from alternating PoVs of a boy and a girl from when the internet was still a new thing, and they somehow find Facebook and mess around with their futures.
3. The Switch by Anthony Horowitz - Two boys, one a street urchin, another the son of rich parents, get their bodies switched and have to somehow figure out how to survive in their new worlds, as well as take down a sinister organization.
4. Variant by Robison Wells - A dystopia story with a bit of sci-fi. No vampires or zombies.
5. Airman by Eoin Colfer - Takes place in the 1890s or so. I read it a while back, so I'm a bit rusty on the deets. A boy who was basically born in a hot-air balloon or something has to build his own glider or something to escape jail where he has been wrongfully imprisoned. A bit like Airborn by Kenneth Oppel, so if he likes this, he'd probably like Airborn as well. Or vice-versa.
6. Born to Rock by Gordon Korman - Hilarious, heart-touching story of an absolute geek finding out he's the son of a infamous rocker.
